Land Acknowledgement
In the spirit and intent of the Truth and Reconciliation Commision’s 94 Calls to Action, we acknowledge the traditional indigenous territories that we occupy. We acknowledge the diverse and unique groups of Indigenous Peoples from across Turtle Island which is also known as North America. We acknowledge the traditional territories across Turtle Island of each of these diverse peoples, cultures, languages and territories. We acknowledge their contributions in their traditional ways of knowledge, medicine, technology and much more. We are committed to building relationships with First Nations, Inuit and Métis people in order to enhance our knowledge of the many languages and histories across their homelands and work to pursue a more inclusive and respectful path towards a just future.
To help ensure this land acknowledgement goes beyond mere words, we invite settlers to consider the history and legacy of colonialism, the privileges we enjoy resulting from colonialism and what we can do beyond acknowledging the territory where we live, work, and hold our events. You may find The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation and The Circle to be helpful resources.
